BUY THIS BOOK!
As a 26 year old guy just coming to terms with my sexual orientation, this book provided the guidance I needed to accept who I was as a gay man and the support I needed to come out to my best friend. Dr. Johnson has put together a great book from start to finish. Not just a book of advice, this book makes you look at your life and do a personal inventory. I've also read "Outing Yourself" but found this book to be better. If you are questioning your sexual orientation, or just need a great guide book to coming out gay or bisexual, this book is for you! Thank you, Dr. Johnson, for writing this book!

helped me a lot!!!
really good self help book

A Companion to California Wine: An Encyclopedia of Wine and Winemaking from the Mission Period to the Present
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (October, 1998)
Authors: Charles L. Sullivan and Hugh Johnson
Average review score:

A Delightful Companion
This lean volume is everything you'd want in a companion: Lively, intoxicating, and beautiful in appearance; her lean, supple prose swells provocatively beneath the sheer, black jacket that clings suggestively to this tight, curvaceaous body of work. But she is more than a sensual treat! Her wit, though not of the highest order, gives some delight as well and one would be proud to appear with this companion under one's arm even at a Mensa gathering.

....

New California Wine Companion destined to become a standard
I am the librarian at the Sonoma County Wine Library, and I have known Charles Sullivan for some years. His newest work will probably be THE one volume reference on California wine from now on. In concise and informative entries, Sullivan encompasses the whole of California's rich wine heritage. He covers all the varietals and most of the wineries A to Z. His writing is insightful, dispassionate and fluid, and his research is superb.

Complete Idiot's Guide to Meeting and Event Planning
Published in Paperback by Alpha Books (19 March, 2001)
Authors: Robin E. Craven, Lynn Johnson Golabowski, Lynn Johnson Golabowski, and Robin E. Cravin
Average review score:

Absolutely necessary for starters
I think this is the best guide for event and meeting planners. there is a lot of source references (especially internet sources available for professional event planners or prospective event planners) It is fun and easy to follow. Everything is clearly explained. There is not too many jargon words used.
I am yet in the middle of the book and I can't wait to see the later parts of it. I am getting all the necessary information I need.

New to Meeting & Event Planning? Start with this book.
This book is a great value for any individual who is just starting out or think about joining the industry. For the seasoned professional you will find a few things you may not have thought about or simply forgot about. In addition, it's a great piece to give to your superiors to explain, in a fun way, what exactly you do. The book expresses that those in the industry are professionals and that we are much more than mere "party planners." At times it can be a little too cute, but with a title like The Complete Idiot's Guide to Meeting and Event Planning some leeway should be given. Again, its a great start for an introduction to the industry. I would recommend for additional information check into some established organizations such as Professionals Convention Management Association, PCMA; Meeting Professionals International, MPI; and the Convention Industry Council, CIC. These organizations offer additional materials, at a slightly higher cost, but worth investigating if you are interested in a career planning meeting and events.

Coppélia
Published in School & Library Binding by Gulliver Books (01 September, 1998)
Authors: Steve Johnson, Lou Fancher, and Margot Fonteyn
Average review score:

From ballet to book
"Coppelia" is a fantasy story retold by ballerina Margot Fonteyn, with paintings by Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher. The story concerns Dr. Coppelius, a European dollmaker who is also an alchemist. Coppelius creates a remarkably lifelike doll who becomes involved in an unusual love triangle.

The paintings by Johnson and Fancher are an ideal complement to this story of love and magic. The photographic reproductions of the paintings are excellent; you can actually see the texture of the paint on the canvas. The art wonderfully captures a quaint European village; the artists include such details as half-timbering and ornamental stonework on the dollmaker's house.

According to a supplemental note, ballerina/author Fonteyn actually danced in the ballet version of this story; that fact gives the book an added touch if interest.

Coppélia
Margot Fonteyn's rendition of the French ballet Coppélia is wonderful. It is the story of a young man named Franz who is enamoured by a beautiful girl who sits by the window in the house of the mysterious dollmaker, Dr. Coppélius. This of course makes his betrothed, the fiery Swanilda very displeased. However, things are not as they appear to be. The story has an excellent flow to it and the illustrations have an impressionist feel to them---one can actually see the brush strokes---and are very lovely. This book makes a great bedtime story and I highly recommend it to children who like ballet or those who have yet to discover its charm.

The Cota Examination Review Guide

COTA Exam Review Book
This book was a worthy investment. Before having purchased this book I was unsure of how well I would perform on the COTA certification exam. What I liked most about the book was how each answer was provided w/an explanation of why the correct answer was correct and why the other answers were incorrect. The five practice tests really helped me to narrow down my weak areas. I feel this is a superb study guide and would highly recommend this review!

The best COTA review guide ever!!
In my opinion, this is an excellent review guide. I purchased it my last quarter as a student and I am so glad I did. Nothing could have prepared me more than this book. I took all 5 practice tests and was amazed by the results. Not only does the book give the partcipant the correct answers but it also gives you the reason why the answer is true and why the other choices are incorrect. If that is not enough, it gives you the references in which you can find that information and/or additional information on that topic. This review guide was a quick and easy way to find out what areas I needed more help with and where I could find that information before taking the COTA exam. What a great investment!

Wow, what a book!
This book will really help me in working at becoming a better teacher. There have been many times I have presented a "raw" lesson. The ideas the author presents are unique. Every teacher should read this book for refreshing ideas on teaching.

Crossing Borders--Confronting History
Published in Hardcover by University Press of America (08 December, 1999)
Author: Jerry L. Johnson
Average review score:

Naked truth about an American's "Psychic Emergency"
This book is an honest and straight-forward account of one American's experience. The journal entries within the book provide vivid images of Armenia and the "tourist" struggling with the erosion of his cultural safety net.

A must read for American travelers or workers going abroad!
Johnson's grasp of the difficulties of adjusting to a foreign culture is excellent and moving. This is based on his experience as a community consultant in Armenia, during one of that countries most difficult periods in history--immediately after the Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Through his journals and thorough analysis, I felt like I was there with him! Anybody preparing to travel abroad, or professionals training in social work or other services should read this before going on.

Cycling to the Source of the Mississippi [3 1/2 Diskette, HTML]

Inspiration for a Procrastinator
CYCLING TO THE SOURCE OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER is as close to experiencing bicycling hundreds of miles as I could get--without actually doing it The Johnson's 4000-mile bicycle trip is s feat which ninety percent of us could not physically do. Or mentally.

To read about the author's visit to her grade school in St. Louis was amazing. What a memory she has--for the names of the six Bettys in her class, and to describe the beautiful kindergarten room with arched windows. Then the chapter, "The Benches of Beaumont High"! Read it, rejoice and rave--in all senses of the word.

Cycling to the Source of the Mississippi River
This adventure of 2000 miles makes me think Johnson is an iron woman. I can hardly believe she is more than 60 years old! Her descriptions of biking against winds, crossing an old bridge, and climbing hills--all on a 100-mile day--show how energetic she is physically. Her writing shows her intellectual energy, too.

I suppose she was tired a little at the end, but satisfied to take a good rest. Her husband Ted sounded like the best companion for a trip like this.
